Dealing with Your Feelings

Psychologists tell us that there are four basic core "negative" emotions. These emotions are neither good nor bad in themselves. They are given by God and are natural to the way he made us. The issue which we must face is to recognize them and then to handle them in a godly way. If buried, these feelings tend to lead to instability; if worked through, they lead to health and wholeness. The four core feelings are: Anxiety, Fear, Guilt, and Anger.

Definitions:

Anxiety: A feeling of emotional distress, but without a perceivable object. The root cause of anxiety is discovered by uncovering fear, anger, and guilt.

Fear: The result of some actual or protential source of frustration. Fear often can be rooted in the frustration which stems from our lack of perfection.

Guilt: Is the frustration inside ourselves. An overwhelming sense of wrong that comes over us.

Anger: Is the source of frustration is outside of ourselves.. that which we have no control over.

There is no defining way to take control of these feelings or emotions, but the key is to be aware of how you deal with life's complications. You should understand, not only how you react to these complications but the effect it takes on your stress level and overall emotional health. If you find yourself having complications in any of these areas feel free to contact ACCARES.
